About Findley University

A leading institution of higher education in Kyrgyzstan since 1970

Our History

Findley University was established in 1970 as one of the premier educational institutions in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. Originally founded as the Bishkek Technological and Architectural College, our institution has grown significantly over the decades to become one of the most respected universities in Central Asia.

The university began with a focus on architecture, construction, interior design, economics, and fashion design. Our first students were admitted based on their completion of 9th grade (for first-year entry) or 11th grade (for second-year entry), establishing our commitment to accessible education from the very beginning.

In 1970, under the leadership of our founding director, we welcomed our first cohort of students in Architecture, Construction and Building Operations, Interior Design, Economics and Accounting, and Fashion Design. These programs laid the foundation for what would become a comprehensive educational institution serving thousands of students.

Our first graduates in Economics and Accounting completed their studies in 2013, followed by graduates in Architecture, Interior Design, and Fashion Design in 2014. Since 2014, the university has been led by Dr. Mahabat Salimbekovna Shamshieva, a candidate of Philological Sciences and Associate Professor, whose vision has guided our growth and development.

In 2016, we expanded our academic offerings to include new specialties such as Transportation Organization and Management, Technical Maintenance of Computing Equipment and Computer Networks, and Construction and Operation of Roads and Airfields. This expansion reflected our commitment to meeting the evolving needs of the Kyrgyz economy and providing our students with relevant, in-demand skills.

In 2017, the institution was renamed Findley University and registered with the Ministry of Justice, marking a new chapter in our history. The Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic issued new licenses in recognition of our expanded educational mission.

Today, Findley University continues to uphold its tradition of excellence in education. We regularly undergo attestation by the Ministry of Education and Science, most recently receiving certification in 2016. Our educational programs follow the state standard of education approved by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic, ensuring that our students receive a high-quality education that meets national standards.
